The Courage to Alight and Begin Again

As rightly said by C.S. Lewis in The Case for Christianity:

“We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turn, then going forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road…”

This quote resonated with me.

Because progress isn’t just about moving forward; it’s about moving in the right direction. And sometimes, that means stopping. Turning around. Alighting from the wrong path to retrace your steps toward healing, wholeness, and truth.

So today, I choose to alight.

I alight from wrong decisions.
I alight from abusive relationships.
I alight from messy thoughts.
I alight from people-pleasing.
I alight from timidity.
I alight from shyness.
I alight from anything that belittles me.
I alight from regrets, from my past.
I alight from unforgiveness.
I alight from hatred.
I alight from guilt.
I alight from low self-esteem.

I alight from fear:
Fear of failure,
Fear of the unknown,
Fear of tomorrow,
Fear of the future,
Fear of the what ifs,
Fear of the hows and whens.

I alight from everything that causes me panic.
I alight from doubt.
I alight from grief.
I alight from heartbreaks, trauma, and distractions.
I alight from poor choices, loss, and bitterness.
I alight from abuse; mental, emotional, spiritual.
I alight from every form of negative energy.

And now, I turn back.

I retrace my steps:
Into sanity.
Into boldness.
Into courage.
Into confidence.
Into abundance.
Into awareness.
Into greatness.
Into forgiveness.
Into love.
Into peace.
Into self-acceptance.
Into truth.
Into joy.
Into positivity.

I enter into my rest.
And into every good thing that God has prepared for me.

This is not a retreat. It is redirection.
And it is progress.
